What do Benton Harbor, Battle Creek, Holland, Lansing, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Saginaw, Mt Pleasant, Shipshewanna, Michigan City, Merrillville, Joliet, and Alsip all have in common? The Paradigm 2023 program!
Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine), one of our energy clients, participated in 19 in-person Paradigm meetings throughout Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. Wolverine operates active pipelines in each of these areas. These meetings are for emergency responders, public officials, and excavators to meet with their local pipeline operators, participate in a tabletop exercise, and learn about pipeline safety and safe digging practices.
After two years of travel restrictions, Wolverine and team were excited to finally have in-person meetings with stakeholders. MRG supported Wolverine through this season of Paradigm through ordering customized merchandise, organizing Wolverine’s attendance and presentations, and communicating with event attendees.
Featured are pictures of some of our team members, Chelsea Yi and Emily Van Camp assisting at the events in Joliet and Alsip.
In Indiana and Illinois, the events were split; contractors in Illinois attended Excavator Damage Prevention & Pipeline Safety Programs which included breakfast and a presentation specific to what they need to know about pipeline safety and damage prevention when excavating. Emergency responders and public officials attended a separate Coordinated Response Exercise luncheon which includes a tabletop drill.
In Michigan the events were combined with all stakeholders attending the same meeting and participating in one dinner program. An improvement that started in the 2022 Virtual Paradigm Programs was holding a longer tabletop exercise at the start of the emergency response portion of the meeting, which was one of Wolverine’s suggestions for improvement to the Michigan Paradigm coordinators.
Excavator presentations in Indiana were sponsored by the Indiana Pipeline Awareness Association, in Illinois, they were sponsored and led by Julie, and in Michigan they were sponsored and led by Miss Dig. Each program provided very specific graphics and videos regarding best practices when using the one call system.
We are grateful for the opportunity to represent Wolverine at these events and we are proud of the strong turnout that resulted in the first year back after COVID.
