Highlighting Michigan’s robust aerospace industry, MRG’s client, AeroDynamic Advisory, recently ran an independent audit of the F-35 program and gained valuable insights regarding its economic impact. The company used Lockheed Martin’s economic impact methodology, internal activities, and Tier 1 supplier spend data to reach a conclusion.
According to Richard Aboulafia, Managing Director of Aerodynamic Advisory, “The Lockheed Martin F-35 program is the most economically significant defense program in history, yet previous estimates of its impact upon the US economy are conservative.”
"When one accounts for all the activity of Lockheed Martin's sub-tier suppliers as well as the vital sustainment activities necessary to support this aircraft, the actual economic impact is at least ten percent higher than originally thought," said Kevin Michaels, Managing Director at AeroDynamic Advisory.
Based on their vast aerospace consulting experience and proprietary databases, AeroDynamic Advisory concludes that Lockheed Martin’s annual economic impact is approximately $72 billion. This is $7 billion higher than Lockheed Martin initially estimated.
These results are a testament to the methodology and expertise our client brings to forecasting the economic impacts of aerospace innovations in and outside of the industry.
